Broadway Director Takes On Fairy Tales at Prima

Hello Prima Friends!

INTO THE WOODS takes to the Prima stage in less than 60 days! Into The Woods’ Director is Galia Backal. She is the Resident Director of Broadway’s SIX. Galia represents a rarity in the world of Broadway creative leadership as a female and first-generation Mexican American. And with her at the helm, casting is nearly completed, with 60% of performers being persons of color or representing other minority groups. Learn more about Galia in this just-released Susquehanna Style interview. And shout out to the Lancaster County Community Foundation, Myokind by Prana, and Henry & Carol Mauermeyer for helping to bring Galia to Lancaster!

Also…

Investments in NextGen are winning! The Set Designer is past NextGen intern Brigid Reilly. The Music Director is Millersville graduate and past Prima intern Adam Rineer.

Plus, Emmanuel Delgado (NYU MFA graduate) will be Prima’s first Puerto Rican Lighting Designer. My wife and Prima’s Resident Costume Designer, Diana Nugent, continues her impressive work in what I expect to be Prima’s largest show in years.

Keep an eye out. An LNP full cover spread featuring Into the Woods and The Mom Show is scheduled for January 22.

May the beginning of 2023 be full of invigorating experiences for you!

-Mitch

P.S. Stage Brawl is February 4. Are you coming?!
